Hospital Waste Management @ Hyderabad


Mashriq Foundation, in sponsorship of UNDP GEF Small Grants Program, has completed work successfully on Hospital Waste Management at four hospitals of the District Hyderabad.  During this one-year project, Mashriq Foundation took care of hospitals. This project started on November 2009 and completed on October 2010.



Project Objectives

To bring improvements in whole life cycle of HWM by the way of reducing spread of  infectious waste.

To make recently installed incinerator operational for complete and efficient destruction of infectious waste.
To improve hygiene and sanitary conditions at hospitals
To reduce scavenging and illegal use of syringes etc
To help in Reducing diseases such as Hepatitis B & C by the way of limiting reuse of syringes, OT instruments etc.

These objectives will lead Civil Hospital Sanghar to achieve compliance with the Hospital Waste Management Rules 2005 regulated by Pakistan EPA and Sindh EPA.
